Here is a comparison of the size of the new PocketWizard MiniTT1 and FlexTT5. The MiniTT1 (which sits atop the camera) is quite a lot smaller than the old Canon IR ST-E2 transmitter. See how they fit on the camera in my post of a few days ago

Was given an assignment to photograph Elliot Brenchley last night, a 12yr old boy from Townsville, Qld who is a finalist on ABC television's Young Einstein. Had a nice run again in the papers with my pics from the North Queensland Cowboys v Manly Sea Eagles match. For the keen snappers out there - most of my pics were shot on EOS1DMkIII with 400 AF-IS f2.8L at 1/800 f2.8 on 2000iso. The light at the stadium is terrible, about 1 1/2 stops darker in the in-goal areas, wish they would upgrade the lighting to make it level all over the playing surface!

Just took delivery of my new PocketWizard FlexTT5 and MiniTT1 after a LONG wait. I can't believe that B&H Photo insist on full payment for a product even when they are on a lengthy backorder. Oh well, I was happy to pay but them having close to $1000 of my money for 2 1/2 months seem a bit rich.There has been quite a lot of negative feedback about the actual range of the new PocketWizards.

The Cowboys cruised to an easy 42-14 win over the Wests Tigers in their first home game for season '09. I bought myself a Canon G10 last week for an upcoming long-term commercial timelapse job. Thought I would give it a quick battery test while driving the between Townsville and Airlie Beach on Saturday to cover Cyclone Hamish. Had a bit of a brainwave today and realised I could adapt my cheapo chinese intervalometer (which is AWESOME!) to work with both my 1DMKIII's and my new G10. I cut the 3 pin N3 type plug (for EOS1DMKIII) off and soldered on a 2.5mm stereo plug wiring it as pictured below.I then added a 2.5mm female stereo socket to the left over bit of cable with the 3 pin N3 plug wiring it so that it matched up

Couldn't quite get to the Burdekin Dam today either by road or air due to a massive low that hung around the area most of the day.  The kind folks at Sunwater were kind enough to shoot some pics of the flow. The dam is currently holding well over 100% of capacity and is reported to be dripping 80,000,000,000 litres (80 thousand megalitres) of water a day over the wall! See all my flood

I took a helicopter from Giru down to Airlie Beach yesterday to photograph flooding in the region.  Apart from many sections of the highway being cut the damage didn't appear to be too bad.  At least I managed to get a page one pic that helped alleviate the cost of the charter!  I have put a bunch of pics on my site so wander over and have a look (link below).
