Cowboys v Manly and how the papers used my pics

Had a nice run again in the papers with my pics from the North Queensland Cowboys v Manly Sea Eagles match. For the keen snappers out there - most of my pics were shot on EOS1DMkIII with 400 AF-IS f2.8L at 1/800 f2.8 on 2000iso. The light at the stadium is terrible, about 1 1/2 stops darker in the in-goal areas, wish they would upgrade the lighting to make it level all over the playing surface!

Robbie Fowler hits the pitch in Townsville

Today was Robbie Fowler's first public training session with his new team, the North Queensland Fury FC. Unfortunately I was away on an assignment and couldn't make it. A colleague of mine, Ian Hitchcock who shoots for Getty Images was there and put together a nice set of pics that you can check out at this link

Cowboys score an easy home win (and I score a back page)

The Cowboys cruised to an easy 42-14 win over the Wests Tigers in their first home game for season '09. Getting into the swing of a new season was pretty tricky - had a crappy night and only filed about 25 decent pics although in brighter news I debuted the 'custom photographers bench' which left other snappers and Fox Sports guys open mouthed in amazement! :-) (link)

Robbie Fowler lands in Townsville

Most thought this day would never come. Former England international and Liverpool star Robbie Fowler signing with debut A-League team North Queensland Fury FC? Well it happened and today he jetted into town for a two year stint with the fledgling club. About 150 supporters welcomed Fowler at the airport before he spared time for local, national and international media at a press function. I was there and shot video of the conference and pics which have been distributed internationally.

Webby set to battle Willie in the ring

Cowboys enforcer Carl Webb looks set to meet Willie Mason in the ring!  With the raw power and boxing skills he showed me yesterday while shooting him for the Daily Telegraph I can tell you one thing, I wouldn't want to be facing him in the ring!

Matt Bowen to stay a Cowboy until end of 2011 season

What great news for the Cowboys! Matt Bowen signature on a new three year contract seeing him through until the end of the 2011 NRL season. Now we have the most exciting fullback in the game joining the best halfback in the game, what a great combination for the next couple of years at least!

JT takes out the Dally M medal

JT picked up another Dally M medal as the NRL's player of the year in Sydney function last night. Well done JT, keep it up for the last few matches and 2007 could be a premiership year for the Cowbies!
